Textar, which has been synonymous with brake linings for more than 100 years, as a partner of the Autodrom Most and especially the Czech Truck Prix racing weekend, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of brake linings for trucks, including racing tractors.
Textar, part of the TMD Friction group, has its roots in 1913 and is today perceived worldwide as a synonym for quality, optimal safety and maximum braking comfort.
However, this brand does not only supply brake pads and linings for passenger cars, but also cooperates with manufacturers of commercial vehicles from trucks to buses to trailers and semi-trailers. Thanks to this, Textar offers brake linings for 99% of all commercial vehicles offered and operated on the European market.
Brake linings, especially in commercial vehicles, are exposed to extreme conditions and loads every day, because much more energy is needed to brake a truck or bus than to accelerate it.
An example is a 40-tonne truck that can accelerate from 0 to 80 km/h in just 45 seconds with a 340 kW engine, while an emergency braking power of 3,300 kW is required to brake from 80 to 0 km/h. This is an incredibly high load on a relatively small brake lining.
This is not the only reason why Textar places maximum emphasis on the quality of its brake linings, which it spends up to three years developing and testing. Before being launched on the market, the brand's products undergo up to 300,000 test kilometres and up to 2,000 hours of testing in the test laboratory. As part of the testing, the braking properties and wear of the linings are evaluated by computer. In addition to quality and safety, braking comfort is also intensively tested.
New products with the Textar brand are only released to the market after successfully passing the most stringent approval tests in real-world conditions.
