König started studying and remains in superbikes

It's official – Oliver König continues in the World Superbike Championship! His manager has signed a contract and the team will now be called Orelac Racing Movisio. The Czech racer will also be joined by a new technical director, Italian Thomasso Noccioli, Michal Kněžínek will take care of the data and Lukáš Porš will become one of the mechanics. "We have agreed that from this year onwards it will be a new Czech-Spanish team, which I am very happy about. I expect that Oliver and I will make significant progress, even though the competition will be even greater this year," said Miloš Čihák, the rider's manager. König is currently testing in Spain. The Superbike Championship will be broadcast by the Nova Sport station.

Oliver König also managed to fulfill a fundamental requirement in that he quickly found a university to study at. Last year, the Czech racer kept quiet about his decision to stop studying. "Miloš is a sharp manager and I know he means well to me. I was a little surprised at how he insisted on his way. I also take into account that it was not fair when I kept quiet about it to him. This way I will make up for it and I will try to study hard and compete well," added König, who started distance learning at NEWTON University. "I want to thank Miloš's wife for helping me. She literally saved my season," he added with a smile.

König is also excited about continuing in the elite motorcycle championship and the changes in the team. "It's great. I know my new technical director from the 300cc category. I've known the Czech mechanics since I was a kid, I have a great relationship with them. The atmosphere in the team is completely different and I'm happy about that," added König, who won a total of three points in the Superbike World Championship last season and managed to finish all the main races. "At the beginning of last season, he was a minute and a half behind the fastest, and by the end of the year he was only forty seconds behind and was able to overtake big names. I would like him to show progress this year as well, he needs to improve from braking, passing, exits to communication with the chief mechanic. I believe he can do it ," said Miloš Čihák, CEO of Moviso Racing.

At the same time, very interesting riders have moved to superbikes this year, such as Italian Danilo Petrucci, Australian Remy Gardner and Italian Lorenzo Baldassarri. "I don't take it upon myself to set goals for the season. There are riders coming with experience from MotoGP or who have ridden among the elite in Supersports. I am the only name who has almost nothing to my credit. I will act accordingly, I want to improve compared to last year," added König, who is currently testing in Jerez. "I have been in Spain for a week and a half, I am training physically and we go to the flat-track. In the Czech Republic, I went to the Balance Club Brumlovka, where I regularly exercise and also to Mr. Hejník, where we work on improving and accelerating reflexes. I am also often at the Olymp sports center, where I use the running hall and cryochamber for regeneration."

There was also interest in König from other teams, the contract is signed for one year. "We have been negotiating the terms for quite a long time, since the race in Argentina. It was clear to us from the beginning that we wanted Oliver to continue here. However, we wanted to move it forward, which is why it took so long. I would like to thank the boss of Orelac, Jose Calero, and I hope that the season will be successful," added Čihák.
