The Chairman of the Board of Directors of AUTODROM MOST, Josef Zajíček, received the highest award of the Czech Republic, the Grenade Lion, from the President of the Automobile Club of the Czech Republic (ACR), Jan Šťovíček. He thus became an ambassador for all organizers and promoters of motor sport events who had to deal with the exceptional situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the COVID-19 disease.
"This is an extraordinary award for all event organizers under the Automobile Club of the Czech Republic who have gone through this difficult season. It belongs not only to those whose events were successful despite enormous problems, but also to the organizers who were forced to cancel them, which cost them a lot of effort and suffered economic losses. The fact that Josef Zajíček received the award is not accidental. The Autodrom in Most is one of the most active event organizers. Moreover, it has proven that it can cope even in very difficult conditions," explained Jan Šťovíček.
Despite the unusual conditions, the Most Autodrom managed to hold the main event of its annual calendar, the European circuit truck championship, called the Czech Truck Prix, on time at the end of August and with spectators, although the number of spectators had to be limited. As one of the few organizers, it allowed fans to watch the exciting trucker battles live.
The Presidium of the Automobile Club of the Czech Republic annually awards the Garnet Lion badge to personalities who have contributed significantly to the development of the Automobile Club of the Czech Republic through their life-long activities.
For his merits in the field of sports and his long-term activity for the Autoclub of the Czech Republic, the Garnet Lion was awarded to Josef Michl, who was recently an active racer. He holds twenty-five titles of national champion and thirteen titles of European champion in hillclimb racing. Ladislav Tejchman was awarded by the management of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic for his work as an official and clerk. He was a founding member of the autocross commission and later its long-term chairman. He worked as an international sports commissioner and had a major role in introducing the junior buggy division to the European championship. This year's laureate is also Jaroslav Hošek. The autocross legend and five-time national champion is an active driver even at the age of 75. In addition to winning the title of European champion, he was five times vice-champion and also collected 11 bronze medals in the European championship.
