Triumph in the opening race, second place on Sunday. The new NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season started more than promisingly for Martin Doubek. The Czech driver left the season-opening race in Valencia as the leader of the EuroNASCAR 2 class standings.
Doubek decided his Saturday championship right at the start. The native of Litomyšl started the race in second place, but immediately after the exit of the first corner he overtook his teammate Gil Linster and took the lead. Although the duel between the pair was not without contact and the Luxembourger paid for it with a flat tire, Doubek's car escaped the jostling without damage. Later, the Czech driver was put under pressure by Thomas Toffel and then Patrick Schober, but neither of them was able to catch up with our representative and he was able to finish the race in a style-start finish for victory.
On Sunday, Doubek added silver to his Saturday victory. After starting from second position, he spent the entire race in second place and crossed the finish line 2.604 seconds behind the winner Linster. Thanks to the combination of these results, he left Valencia as the leader of the standings, where he leads by six points over Patrick Schober.

Doubek will continue his battle for his second EuroNASCAR 2 title (he won his first in 2021) on the weekend of May 18-19, when the championship comes to Vallelunga, Italy. The Hendriks Motorsport driver will try to make up for the unsuccessful start to his season in the elite EuroNASCAR Pro category, as he did not finish a single race in Valencia.
At the turn of August and September, domestic fans will also be able to support Doubek in his pursuit of success. From August 31 to September 1, the European NASCAR racing series will also visit Autodrom Most. It will be presented there as part of the accompanying program of the European Truck Championship.
